Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff have discussed further contacts and next steps in the negotiation process.

Umerov reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"Just now, while on the way to Ukraine, we held a conversation with U.S. President's Special Representative Steve Witkoff. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also joined the call. The key point is coordinating further contacts and next steps. The work is intensive and substantive: we are continuing consultations and working through the points in the documents virtually every day," Umerov said.

He also noted that Ukraine remains in constant contact with European national security advisers, with whom it agreed on the next engagements in the near future.

Umerov thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for the high intensity of work by the U.S. team.

Umerov stated earlier that the teams of Ukraine and the United States had made tangible progress in developing a peace framework, security guarantees, and the sequence of further steps.
