Moscow currently has no plans to attack Baltic states, Estonia’s spy chief says
According to Ukrinform, this assessment was voiced by Kaupo Rosin, Director General of Estonia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, as reported by ERR.
Rosin said that Moscow has changed its behavior following various incidents in the region.
According to him, as a result of the responses by NATO member states, Russia has taken a number of measures to avoid dangerous incidents in the future.
“If we look at the current situation, including what's visible to the public, the drone flight paths over Ukrainian territory or airspace have been adjusted to minimize risk. We're also seeing that Russian aircraft are now very carefully monitoring their flight paths over the Baltic Sea, strictly adhering to their trajectories to avoid triggering incidents,” Rosin noted.
He added that since the launch of the relevant NATO mission [Baltic Sentry], there have been no further incidents involving undersea cables.
As reported, on December 18 Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires over a violation of the control line on the border along the Narva River. At the time, three men in uniform aboard a hovercraft crossed the control line from Russia into Estonia.
The Estonian government is considering a “review of the threat level assessment” and the possibility of closing the border with Russia.
