U.S. calls gas transit contract Ukraine’s significant achievement

The United States has welcomed the signing of contracts for the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has reported.
"Congratulations to Ukraine for securing a gas transit contract with Russia and receiving $2.9 billion for the Stockholm arbitration. These are significant accomplishments," the embassy wrote on Facebook.
As Ukrinform reported, on December 30, Ukraine and Russia signed a five-year gas transit contract. The minimum guaranteed volume of transited gas is 65 billion cubic meters for the first year and 40 billion cubic meters for the next four years. However, the actual volume may be higher.
