Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv Kristina Kvien will be the new U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in place of William Taylor, who leaves the post early next year.

Taylor said this when answering questions during an online broadcast on Facebook on Monday, December 23.

"My deputy, Deputy Chief of Mission Kristina Kvien, is very well-qualified. She is ready to take over from early next month. She would be the Chargé d'Affaires in charge of our embassy for the next couple of months while the next ambassador is selected and sent to the Senate for confirmation," Taylor said.

He said that the United States is working to ensure that the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv is headed by a very well-qualified person.
