Third Forum of Regions of Ukraine and Belarus to be held in October 2020 – ambassador

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“We plan to hold the Third Forum of the Regions of Ukraine and Belarus in Grodno, one of the most beautiful Belarusian cities. A date has already been set - October 1-2, 2020. In the near future, an organizing committee will be created to prepare and conduct the forum,” Sokol said.

He emphasized that the regions had become the drivers of trade turnover growth between the two countries this year. The diplomat said that Belarusian enterprises of regional subordination in January-October 2019 exported to Ukraine products worth $837.5 million, which makes up almost a quarter of all Belarusian exports to the country.

“In general, we are pleased with the regional cooperation with Ukraine and look forward to its further expansion," the ambassador said.

In this context, he recalled that according to the results of the Second Forum of the Regions of Ukraine and Belarus, which was held in Zhytomyr this year, the parties laid the foundations for mutual trade for 2020 and concluded contracts and financial agreements worth more than $500 million.
