“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia on December 13. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the further development of the Ukrainian-Georgian strategic partnership,” the statement says.

The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Georgia signed the Regulation on the High-Level Ukrainian-Georgian Strategic Council, which should become a key mechanism of bilateral dialogue.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of intensifying cooperation between the two countries on the issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as in the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN and the Council of Europe.

In addition, Zelensky praised the potential of developing trade and economic relations between the two countries, stressing that Georgia is an important promising market for Ukrainian exports. He also noted the opportunities available for the intensification of the investment sector.

In this context, the parties agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation in the first quarter of 2020 in Tbilisi.
