NATO welcomes results of Normandy Four summit and calls on Russia to withdraw troops from Donbas
“We welcome recent developments in the Normandy Four Summit. This includes a renewed commitment to a comprehensive ceasefire, the development and implementation of an updated demining plan, agreement on additional disengagement areas and new crossing points along the line of contact, and the release and exchange of conflict-related detainees by the end of the year. These steps offer concrete benefits for the people of Ukraine and can contribute towards the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements by all parties," a NATO official told an Ukrinform correspondent.
He called the outcome of the Normandy format meeting the key to reaching a lasting, peaceful solution to the conflict. NATO continues to support the efforts of the Normandy format, the Trilateral Contact Group and the OSCE.
"We reiterate our call on Russia to withdraw its troops, equipment and support for militants in eastern Ukraine. NATO Allies strongly support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its right to decide its own future," the official said in a statement.
As Ukrinform reported, the Normandy Four summit was held in Paris on December 9. It was attended by the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany.
