Russian propagandists spread fake about ‘Kremlin chimes’ during farewell ceremony in Kyiv region

Russian media, Telegram channels and bots on X are circulating a video of a farewell ceremony for a Ukrainian soldier. They claim that during the moment of silence, the Kremlin chimes from the Spasskaya Tower in Moscow were supposedly heard.

This is a fake.

The moment of silence in honor of Ukrainian defender Yevhen Ternov took place in Vyshhorod community in Kyiv region on December 1. The original video clearly shows that a large number of local residents came to pay their respects to the Hero.

During the moment of silence, only the sound of a metronome can be heard – symbolizing a heartbeat. This sound is traditionally used in Ukraine during state and military ceremonies.

To create the fake, Russian propagandists replaced the original audio track with a recording of the Kremlin chimes.

In doing so, Russia sought to cheapen the sacrifice of the Ukrainian defender who gave his life defending his land from the enemy. The goal of this disinformation is also to promote a false narrative about “one people” and a “shared culture.”

As reported by Ukrinform earlier, Russians also pushed a fake claim alleging that narcotics were being “distributed” in a combat brigade in Sumy region.
