War update: 132 clashes on frontline over past day, fiercest fighting in Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka sectors
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook publishing an operational update as of 08:00, April 17.
Russian forces carried out two missile strikes using 24 missiles, 78 air strikes, and dropped 235 guided aerial bombs. They also deployed 9,701 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,771 shelling attacks, including 142 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Pidhavrylivka, Velykomykhailivka, Pokrovske, Orestopil, and Prosiana in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Vozdvyzhivka, Huliaipilske, Kopani, Vasylivske, Tavriiske, Kamianka, and Rivne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck one area of Russian personnel and equipment concentration, a command post, five artillery systems, and one enemy air defense asset.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces launched four attacks and carried out 78 shellings, including five MLRS strikes.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, there were four attempted breakthroughs near Prylipky, Symynivka, Vovchansk, Veterynarne, and Starytsia.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces conducted four attacks toward Petropavlivka, Podoly, and Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman sector, one assault attempt was reported near Lyman.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled an attack near Yampil.
In the Kramatorsk sector, two assaults were recorded near Minkivka and Nykyforivka.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces carried out 25 attacks near Illinivka, Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukraine’s Defense Forces stopped 32 assault actions by the aggressor near Rodynske, Muravka, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Molodetske, and Kotlyne.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, three attacks were recorded near Kalynivske, Berezove, and Novooleksandrivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, ten clashes occurred near Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Staroukrainka, Huliaipilske, Olenokostiantynivka, Zarichne, and Tsvitkove.
No combat activity was recorded in the Orikhiv sector.
In the Prydniprovske sector, Russian forces carried out three unsuccessful assaults toward the Antonivskyi Bridge area and Bilohrudyi Island.
In the Volyn or Polissia sectors, no signs of offensive group formation were detected.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russia’s total combat losses in its full-scale war against Ukraine have reached approximately 1,316,070 personnel as of April 17, 2026, including 1,000 troops killed or wounded over the past day.
