Government working to fully fund regional resilience plans – Zelensky

The Cabinet of Ministers is working to ensure full financial resources for implementing regional resilience plans.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening address, Ukrinform reports.

The President discussed the implementation of the resilience plans with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. According to him, funding for these measures largely depends on partners.

“That is why sanctions against Russia are so important. Support packages are important. And European decisions – including the €90 billion in support that has already been approved – must work. Europe’s word must work. So that, regardless of the diplomatic situation or any challenges in the world, our regions are ready for the next winter exactly as the previous winter taught us to be,” he said.

At the same time, the President stressed that the responsibility of regional authorities and every community must also be significant. The government is ready to provide maximum assistance to ensure people are protected.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, other central-level institutions, and domestic energy companies have their share of responsibility.

“The key work is at the local level,” Zelensky emphasized.

In some regions, road repairs have already begun. The head of state called on government officials and regional authorities to pay attention to the condition of roads near the front line and in all communities where evacuation routes for the wounded and logistics routes for the Armed Forces of Ukraine pass.

“Defending the state is the first priority. The Russians are not preparing for peace. We must ensure complete protection – and that is exactly what we are doing,” the President concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, on March 3, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine approved resilience plans for all regions and regional centers, except Kyiv. The capital was given additional time to prepare the relevant documents.

On March 14, Zelensky signed a decree enacting the NSDC decision “On comprehensive resilience plans for regions and certain cities.”
