Gazprom increases gas transit through Ukraine to a maximum

Ukrinform
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has increased gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS) to reduce gas withdrawal from European storages and sell gas from storages at higher prices.

General Manager of the Gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) of Ukraine Sergiy Makogon wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“After receiving Gazprom’s proposal, it seems that Gazprom has no plans to continue transit through Ukraine after January 1, 2020," the report states.

In addition, in recent weeks Gazprom has increased gas transit through Ukraine to a maximum of 294 million cubic meters per day.

As Ukrinform reported, Gazprom sent a formal proposal to NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine on extending the current contract or signing a new contract on natural gas transit through Ukraine for a one-year period in exchange for the refusal by both sides of all mutual claims in international arbitration and a cessation of all legal disputes.
