Ukraine saves over 7 bln cu m of gas thanks to alternative sources

Ukraine has saved 7.2 billion cubic meters of gas thanks to commissioning of significant capacities for the production of heat from gas, thermal modernization of the buildings and reduction in gas consumption rates.
Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhiy Savchuk said this in a commentary to journalists, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Starting from 2014, such categories as the households and the state-funded organization have saved 7.2 billion cubic meters of gas for two heating seasons due to thermal modernization, substitution and reduction in consumption rates," Savchuk said.
According to him, Ukraine may further reduce gas consumption by installing the boiler stations running on biofuel, using domestic equipment and burning domestic wood.
