Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov acquainted Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine Tobias Thyberg and Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine Päivi Laine with the capacities of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity at the National Security and Defense Council.

“During the meeting, Danilov stressed that the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity is a key analytical center of the state for detecting, preventing, and responding to cyber incidents and the Center's capabilities were significantly strengthened in accordance with the decision of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in early 2020. The NCCC not only coordinates and monitors the activities of security and defense sector entities that ensure cybersecurity in various areas - the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the National Bank, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and others - but also actively develops public-private partnerships in this field,” the press service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine informs.

As noted, the ambassadors expressed readiness to expand cybersecurity cooperation with Ukraine.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine thanked Sweden and Finland for the comprehensive assistance provided to Ukraine and the continued support in its struggle to restore territorial integrity and sovereignty over the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.

According to Danilov, "cyber and biological threats are becoming more terrible and dangerous even than nuclear weapons" in the present-day world. "Today we are witnessing the first global biological war, the consequences of which are being felt by the whole world," he said and underscored the importance of uniting efforts of partner countries to counter these threats.

The parties also discussed the current security situation in the region, in particular in the context of the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, as well as the events taking place in neighboring Belarus.

Ambassadors Thyberg and Laine assured that their countries would continue to support Ukraine on its path towards the restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories.

The National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity is the agency at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine established in accordance with the Council’s decision "On Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine" of January 27, 2016.
