Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has opened an exhibition of arms and military equipment on Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The head of state was accompanied by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov, and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Serhiy Pashynsky.

The exhibition in the city center is showcasing about 70 units of arms and military equipment, in particular, tanks, armored vehicles, cannons, multiple rocket launchers, combat and medical vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and passenger cars of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Service and the National Guard.

The exhibition, in particular, presents the upgraded T-72AMT tank, which, together with ATO servicemen, was modernized at Kyiv Armored Plant. Kharkiv designers are demonstrating the domestic Verba multiple rocket launcher, which can replace well-known Grads. One of the most powerful and most protected tanks in the world - the Oplot main battle tank - is also showcased at the exhibition.

The exhibition of arms and military equipment will last from August 22 until August 27 along Khreshchatyk - from Instytutska Street to European Square.
