Two Russians suspected of recent murder in Belgium detained in Poland
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by VRT NWS.
“The arrest of the two suspects was the result of extremely intensive and effective cooperation between Europol and several European police services. Without this cooperation, a quick arrest would have been impossible,” said the Public Prosecutor's Office of West Flanders (Belgium).
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Polish police detained two Russian citizens aged 33 and 45 on Tuesday, August 26, at 9:30 p.m. on a motorway in Poland.
They are suspected of murdering a man in Zeebrugge at the end of last week.
It is noted that last Friday, at around 10 p.m., local police received a call about an incident in which a 56-year-old man was struck several times by two other individuals.
A witness to the incident tried to resuscitate the victim. However, even the ambulance workers, who arrived at the scene of the incident quite quickly, were unable to save the victim.
According to several witnesses, there had been an argument between the three men in a night shop before the incident.
The procedure for the extradition of the suspects from Poland to Belgium has now begun.
As reported by Ukrinform, three men who were following a Ukrainian veteran were detained in Germany on suspicion of spying for Russia.
