Ukraine’s air defenses down 56 out of 67 Russian drones overnight
According to Ukrinform, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

Overnight on May 8 (starting from 18:00 on May 7), the enemy attacked with 67 strike unmanned aerial vehicles, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered variants), as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and decoy drones Parodiya. The launches came from Russian regions including Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
As of 8:00 on May 8, preliminary data indicates that air defense systems shot down or suppressed 56 enemy UAVs of various types over southern and eastern Ukraine.
Hits from 11 drones were recorded at eight locations, and falling debris from downed drones was reported at seven locations.
As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that as of the morning of May 8, more than 140 shellings and 850 drone strikes had been recorded across the frontline.
