Russian forces fail to advance under cover of bad weather in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions – military
According to Ukrinform, the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi (Magyar) stated this on Telegram.
"A sharp change in weather on March 17–18 in three of the most critical sectors of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions (Dobropillia, Pokrovsk, and Huliaipole sectors), as well as the planned and somewhat overheated launch of the enemy's spring–summer campaign, pushed the enemy to resume assault operations under the cover of the long-awaited bad weather in March," he said.
According to Magyar, in these directions the enemy intensified its offensive simultaneously across dozens of positions, using "infantry, motorcycles, armored vehicles, and even horses" under the cover of drizzle and fog.
However, he emphasized that despite the occupiers' reliance on the element of surprise due to difficult weather conditions, the assault groups were detected and destroyed by drone operators. In just a day and a half, on the Rodynske–Huliaipole section of the front, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces neutralized more than 900 invaders, Magyar reported.
He stressed that thanks to the resilience of Ukrainian infantry and the effective work of unmanned systems, the enemy did not break through at any point along this section. At the same time, he noted that the enemy's spring–summer offensive has effectively begun, so the situation at the front will remain tense.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukrainian forces repelled the first Russian assault in the past three months involving motorized equipment near Hryshyne in the Donetsk region, destroying most of the enemy's equipment and personnel.
