Ukraine’s air defense forces down 137 out of 165 Russian drones

Starting at 18:00 on Sunday, January 4, the enemy launched an attack using nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles / S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles from Russia’s Bryansk and Voronezh regions, as well as 165 strike UAVs of the Shahed type, Gerbera drones, and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, and Oryol in Russia. About 100 of them were Shahed-type drones.
The aerial attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 on Monday, January 5, air defense had shot down or suppressed 137 drones of various types in northern, central, and eastern Ukraine.
Hits by ballistic / surface-to-air guided missiles and 26 strike UAVs were recorded at 10 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at nine locations.
The attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs still present in Ukrainian airspace.
As reported by Ukrinform, one person was killed and four others were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack overnight on January 5.
