General Staff confirms strikes on four Russian oil industry facilities

Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck four key oil industry facilities in Russia overnight on April 18, with fires reported at the sites.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

Fires are ongoing at the Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran oil refineries in Russia's Samara region, the RPK Vysotsk Lukoil-2 oil terminal in the Leningrad region, and the Tikhoretsk oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region.

"All these facilities are involved in supporting the armed forces of the Russian occupiers," the General Staff said.

The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

In addition, a number of fuel storage sites belonging to Russian forces were hit in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including near Mariupol.

Ukrainian forces also struck locations of Russian repair units in the areas of Manhush and Hrafske in the Donetsk region, as well as Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Following a drone attack overnight on April 18, a fire broke out at an oil depot in Tikhoretsk, Krasnodar region, while an oil refinery is also burning in the city of Syzran.
