Ukrainian forces strike Ryazan oil refinery, ammunition depot in Belgorod region
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in a Facebook post seen by Ukrinform.
Explosions were heard in the area of the refinery, followed by a large fire at the facility.
According to the General Staff, the Ryazan Oil Refinery is involved in supplying the Russian armed forces. Its facilities are capable of processing over 17 million tonnes of crude oil per year. Disabling part of the refinery's production capacity limits the Russian army's ability to sustain combat operations.
As for the enemy ammunition depot near Valuyki, the target was destroyed, and detonations of ammunition were observed, the report said.
The Ryazan Oil Refinery was previously struck on September 5. That time, the attack targeted the primary oil refining unit ELOU-AVT-6, with an estimated capacity of six million tonnes of crude oil per year.
