Russian drones strike industrial zone in Sumy, civilian killed
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
He stated that the previous evening, Russian forces had used a strike drone to attack a vehicle in the Sumy district. A 19-year-old female passenger was injured and hospitalized, with medical personnel providing assistance.
Hryhorov confirmed that the morning drone strike ignited a fire at the site and caused damage to vehicles and non-residential buildings. He noted that a security guard may have been on site during the attack, but efforts to reach him have so far been unsuccessful. Due to the threat of further strikes, emergency services have been unable to begin search-and-rescue operations or assess the damage.
As of 07:00, no additional requests for medical assistance had been reported.
Later, he reported that the body of a man was discovered beneath the rubble of a destroyed building.
"Unfortunately, the body of a deceased security guard was found under the debris in Sumy," he wrote.
Hryhorov also stated that Russian forces launched a missile strike on the Bytytsia starosta district of the Sumy community earlier that morning. The extent of the damage is still being clarified.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russian forces recently struck a cathedral in Sumy during a religious service, while many people were inside.
