Ukraine withstands unprecedented drone assault of over 1,500 UAVs – Defense Minister Advisor

“We have survived one of the most difficult attacks in recent times... We successfully withstood an attempt to overload air defense with UAVs. More than 1,500 per day. Nothing like this has ever happened in the world,” Flash emphasized.

He also noted that about 95% of UAVs were shot down or neutralized, calling it a “fantastic result.” “A low bow to all military personnel of all branches and volunteer formations who defended us,” he added.

According to him, interceptor systems destroyed about 30% of all UAVs.

The defense advisor said the number of jet-powered Shahed drones and electronically controlled drones in this attack was relatively small. The most damage was caused by missiles, especially in Kyiv.

“There were hits on residential buildings and civilian enterprises... Particularly cynical were repeated ballistic strikes on the same locations several hours later. In this way, the enemy tried to kill rescuers working at the sites,” he said.

He added that the targets of the attack included critical infrastructure, Ukrzaliznytsia, and logistics systems. However, the greatest loss remains human lives.

As reported by Ukrinform, nine people were killed in Kyiv during the May 14 massive Russian attack, including a 13-year-old child; search for about 20 missing people is ongoing.

Kyiv declared May 15 a day of mourning for those killed in the combined Russian attack on May 14.
