Molniia‑type loitering munitions surge in south – DF spox
This was stated by Vladislav Voloshin, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Over the past week, the enemy has carried out 11% more attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces. In addition, it has increased the use of all types of weapons at its disposal by a certain percentage. First of all, it increased the number of kamikaze drones by 12%, increased the use of artillery by 8%, and increased the number of shelling of populated areas by 17%. But most of all, it increased the use of Molniia loitering munitions by 42%. In addition, the use of UAVs such as Shahed has increased significantly. Every day, the enemy used between 80 and 150 Shaheds on populated areas in the south," Voloshin said, adding that this included cities such as Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, Beryslav, and others.
According to the spokesman, the enemy also increased the number of air strikes, using unguided air missiles. In particular, over the past day, it used 20 air missiles in the village of Zaliznychne and 20 air missiles in the village of Lvove in the Kherson region.
Speaking about the characteristics of Molniia loitering munitions, Voloshin noted that they pose a threat due to their long flight range.
“They are dangerous because they have a longer flight range and can be used deep inside our defenses,” the spokesman said.
As reported by Ukrinform, 184 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front line over the past day, July 6, half of them in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions.
