Witnesses report explosions near Maykop airfield in Russia

Overnight Saturday, December 7, two powerful explosions were heard in the area of the Maykop airfield in the Russian Republic of Adygea.

This was reported by the Shot Telegram channel, Ukrinform saw.

According to local witnesses, at least two powerful blasts were heard over the regional capital in the area of the local airfield in the night hours.

Although an air raid alert was not declared in the region, air defense forces were activated over the Republic of Adygea, the report reads.

There is currently no official information about the causes and consequences of the blasts.

The Astra Telegram channel published footage from the site of the explosion in Maykop, filmed by local residents, showing a plume of smoke allegedly rising in the Cheryomushki neighborhood.

There are also reports of an overnight drone attack in three Russian regions.

Russia said two drones were shot down over Belgorod region, as well as one each over the territory of the Astrakhan and Voronezh regions.

The authorities have not issued any reports on damage or casualties.
