Street fighting continues around clock in Vovchansk - Syniegubov

In Vovchansk, as in previous weeks, the front line has been stabilised along the Vovcha River. Street fighting continues around the clock in the city.

This was reported by the head of the regional military administration (RMA), Oleg Syniegubov, in an interview with Ukrinform.

"Street fighting is going on around the clock. Our soldiers are focused on the maximum destruction of enemy manpower and military equipment. They are also trying to improve their tactical position. We are fighting for every street and every house," said the head of the RMA. According to him, while the offensive continues in the north, the situation in Kupyansk district has not changed: Russian troops have not eased up their pressure and the direction of action has not changed.

According to him, the Russian army does not stop storming the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kharkiv region along the entire contact line, but the Kupiansk direction remains a priority for the occupiers over the offensive in the north of the region.

"In the Kharkiv sector, the front line has been stabilised, and the enemy has not been allowed to advance further. But the situation remains tense and complicated. The Russian troops, realising that they need to keep pushing, are forced to pull up reserves - from the Sumy direction and even from Kupyinsk - despite the failure. We are also checking the information that there are also units redeployed from the Kherson sector," said Syniehubov.

Ukrainian defenders are trying to improve their tactical position near Lypky. "There are different military units there, with different levels of effectiveness. However, we are pleased that our legendary 92nd Brigade has returned to the Kharkiv region. We can be confident about this area, let's just say," the source is convinced.

"In addition, the enemy continues to destroy civilian infrastructure there, as well as crossings over the Oskil River, in order to make life as difficult as possible for civilians. That is why we are again focused on restoring such critical infrastructure," noted Syniehubov.

He assured that the Russians have not managed to advance in Kupiansk district: "No, there is no advancement there at the moment, we do not record it. There may be an increase in the grey zone, the areas where active hostilities are taking place, because the enemy is pulling up reserves there as well. The Kupiansk direction is probably even more important to the enemy than the north, because everything has become clear to them there. And when it became clear that there was no advance, Putin said that Kharkiv was not the target of this new phase of aggression. The situation in the Kupyansk sector is extremely tense. However, it is fully under the control of our Armed Forces."

Syniehubov also said that Zolochivshchyna in Bohodukhiv district is considered a potentially dangerous area, as well as the area at the junction of Sumy and Kharkiv regions in general, and that the Russians had plans to start an active phase of hostilities there, he said. They were not implemented, as the occupiers are forced to throw their forces to the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions, running into Ukrainian defences.

As reported, since 10 May, the Russians have been repeating their offensive in the north of Kharkiv region. The occupying army managed to capture several settlements in Kharkiv district, and also controls part of Vovchansk in Chuhuiv district.
