In Bakhmut direction, the Russian army tries to regain lost positions, but the defense forces are gradually moving forward.

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, posted this on Telegram.

According to him, the situation on the eastern front remains difficult.

"Our units continue to hold back the enemy's offensive in Kupyansk–Lyman direction. The fiercest battles take place in the areas of the settlements of Rayhorodok and Kovalivka, where the enemy, despite the losses, tries to break through the defense of our troops, using assault units on armored vehicles," Syrskyi emphasized.

As the commander of the Ground Forces noted, at the same time, the enemy regroups, redeploys new units from the territory of the Russian Federation to increase the number and combat capability of its troops.

In Bakhmut direction, fierce battles take place every day. The enemy tries to regain lost positions at any cost, counterattacking our units several times a day.

"We are taking all measures to disrupt the enemy's plans and are gradually moving forward. In particular, intensive combat operations are taking place in the areas of Bakhmut, Kurdiumivka, Yahidne, Andriyivka," Syrskyi said.

According to him, that is why special attention is paid to work in these sections now.

"Together with the commanders of operational and tactical groupings and brigades, we daily analyze the situation, make decisions on the ground regarding the actions of our troops, and also take all measures to successfully carry out combat missions," the commander of the Ground Forces emphasized.
