Russian forces leave 1,554 Ukrainian medical facilities damaged or destroyed

More than 15 months into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kremlin’s forces have damaged or destroyed 1,554 medical facilities across the war-torn country.

This was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s Health Ministry, Ukrinform saw.

More than a year since a full-scale war started, the Russian army continues to target Ukrainian infrastructure, launch missile attacks, and hit peaceful cities and civilians, the report says.

Thus, since Russia’s full-scale invasion, enemy shells have already damaged 1,370 medical facilities, completely destroying another 184.

The healthcare infrastructure of Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions suffered the greatest losses.

However, despite constant bombardments and shelling, Ukraine is rebuilding the affected facilities.

In particular, as of June 2023, 301 of them have been completely restored in cooperation with partners, while work is still underway at another 332 facilities.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, over the last 15 months of the full-scale war, 1,004 attacks confirmed by the WHO claimed at least 101 lives, including medics and patients. Many more were injured.
