War update: Ukraine downs Russian Su-25, 13 drones in one day

Ukraine’s Air Force carried out 16 strikes on Russia’s manpower and equipment clusters on Wednesday. Also, an enemy Su-25 fighter jet and 13 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed.

That’s according to a morning update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy is focusing its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Maryinka, and Shakhtarsk axes. Over the past day, the enemy has carried out more than 75 assaults in the said areas. Facing fierce resistance on the part of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the Russian Federation continues to apply terror tactics against the civilian population of Ukraine, striking and shelling populated areas. Over the past day, the enemy has launched three missile strikes, in particular, on a civilian infrastructure object in Kharkiv. The enemy has also carried out 29 airstrikes and 79 strikes involving MLR systems," the statement reads.

The likelihood of further enemy strikes remains high across Ukraine, the General Staff warns.

On the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the operational situation has undergone no significant changes as no signs of any offensive groups being formed have been spotted. Russian occupation forces continue their training routine in Belarus. The enemy maintains its presence in the border areas. Throughout the day, the enemy has shelled the areas of Khrinivka, Tymonovychs, and Berylivka of Chernihiv region; Yelyne, Starykov, Atynske, Volfyne, Stepne, Kindrativka, Pokrovka, and Hrabovske of Sumy region; and Lemishchyne, Strelecha, Krasne, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky, Ambarne, and Kolodiazne of Kharkiv region.

On the Kupiansk and Lyman axes, the enemy ran unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Hryanikyvka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne. Their artillery shelled the districts of Dvorichna, Hryanikyvka, Kupiansk, and Krokhmalne of Kharkiv region; Novoselivske, Nevske, Dibrova, and Bilohorivka of Luhansk region; as well as Kolodyazi, Siversk, Spirne, and Fedorivka of Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut axis, the enemy does not stop trying to storm the city. Ukraine’s defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the areas of Orihovo-Vasylivka and Bohdanivka. Settlements near the contact line were hit by enemy shelling, including Privillia, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Predtechyne, Oleksandro-Shulhyne, Kurdyumivka, Ozaryanivka, Dachne, and Shumy of Donetsk region.

On the Avdiivka, Maryinka, and Shakhtarsk axes, the enemy went for unsuccessful offensive attempts in the areas of Stepove, Kamianka, Avdiivka, Severne, Netaylove, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Maryinka, and Vuhledar. On the specified section of the front, the largest number of assaults (12) were recorded in the Maryinka area, all of which were repelled by Ukraine’s defenders. Areas of Novokalynove, Kamianka, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Heorhiivka, Nevelske, Pobieda, Vuhledar, Vremyvika, and Velyka Novosilka of Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

On the Zaporizhia and Kherson axes, the enemy is on the defensive. Areas of settlements along the contact line were shelled, including Olhivske, Malynivka, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Yehorivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka, and Kamianske of Zaporizhia region; Manhanets of Dnipropetrovsk region; and Kherson, Chervonyi Mayak, Tokarivka, Antonivka, and Dniprovske of Kherson region.

"Over the past day, Ukraine’s aviation delivered 16 strikes on the occupiers’ manpower and equipment clusters. Our soldiers shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft and 13 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. Missile and artillery forces, in turn, hit a control post, three clusters, as well as two radar stations, an electronic warfare station, and an anti-aircraft missile complex in its firing position," the General Staff concluded.

As reported, since February 24, 2022, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated 161,520 Russian invaders, as per the General Staff.
