Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk has stated that Ukraine demands that the Russian Federation open opportunities for humanitarian corridors and stop manipulating the lives of civilians.

She said this in a video address, Ukrinform reports.

"We urge the Russian Federation to stop manipulating and abusing the trust of world leaders such as [French President] Emmanuel Macron, such as the leaders of China, Turkey or India, and to make open the routes we have indicated. We urge the Russian Federation to accept options of our routes and establish a ceasefire, which we will agree on. We demand that the Russian Federation open humanitarian corridors so that humanitarian cargo consisting of medicines and food products can be delivered to our residents of Mariupol, Kherson and all Ukrainian cities," she said.

She also urged Russia to stop manipulating the lives of civilians.

"Provide the opportunity to open humanitarian corridors and save people, their children, their lives and health. I appeal to the leaders: to Emmanuel Macron, who is really trying to help now, I appeal to Boris Johnson, to Mr. Biden – please help to open real effective humanitarian corridors that will save the lives of hundreds, thousands of people, including foreign citizens,” Vereshchuk said.

She also called on Ukrainians to trust only official sources of information of the Ukrainian authorities.

As reported, on March 5-6, two attempts to evacuate residents of Mariupol failed due to Russian shelling.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion.
