International partners help repair almost 540 houses in Donetsk region – regional administration

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ukraine will continue to provide assistance to the citizens suffered from the armed conflict in Donetsk region, according to the website of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

"First Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Ihor Moroz in Kramatorsk met with a delegation of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ukraine... Director of the Representative Office, Ana Povrzenic, stressed that the Norwegian Refugee Council will continue to provide assistance to the citizens suffered from the conflict in Ukraine,” reads the report.

According to Povrzenic, in November-December 2019, the NRC provided legal assistance and consultations to the internally displaced persons and people affected by the conflict in the eastern regions of the country; as well as financial assistance and construction materials to repair damaged buildings; financial assistance for vulnerable families to purchase food products during the cold season. In addition, the NRC committed to providing business grants and continued projects for the development of rural organizations, public infrastructure and support distance education in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

“We appreciate the assistance to civilians that has been provided by international partners since the start of Russian armed aggression. Due to the support, we have repaired nearly 540 houses near the contact line,” said First Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Ihor Moroz.

Also, during the meeting, NRC representatives told about their plans and projects in the region for 2020.
