Ukraine launches new level of air defense — Fedorov
The Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Fedorov recalled that a year ago, through the Brave1 cluster, the development and testing of technology for remote control of drone interceptors was initiated.
"Today we have a confirmed result — the destruction of targets at distances of hundreds and thousands of kilometers," he said.
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukraine is the first in the world to systematically scale up remote control of interceptor drones. This is an example of implementing defense innovations and forming a new standard of air defense.
"The pilot is no longer tied to a position. The drone is in the air — control is carried out from a secure environment in Kyiv, Lviv, or even abroad. This increases interception efficiency, minimizes risks for operators, and allows scaling capabilities without being tied to the front line," the minister noted.
According to him, more than ten manufacturers have already integrated this solution into their systems.
As Ukrinform reports, the "small" air defense system is being formed under the leadership of Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Pavlo Yelizarov (callsign "Lazar"). The direction is headed by Colonel Yevhenii Khlebnikov.
In March, Ukrainian interceptor drones destroyed more than 33,000 enemy drones of various types.
