Representatives of UNESCO reactive monitoring mission will arrive in Ukraine next week, according to Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Svitlana Fomenko.

"Representatives of UNESCO reactive monitoring mission will be in Kyiv next week to check how we preserve and protect the historic center, the sites of Sophia [Cathedral] and [Kyiv-Pechersk] Lavra," Fomenko said at a press briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The deputy minister said that a special group of experts would check how UNESCO's heritage is protected in Ukraine.

“We will have a discussion with them, there will be a comprehensive analysis of the changes that are taking place in Kyiv. It is important that all the recommendations and things, which are currently being carried out at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, be implemented in the urban development and general plan of Kyiv city, which we all are waiting for,” she said.
