Klympush-Tsintsadze predicts difficult negotiations for Ukraine's EU membership
She said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"There is a prevailing view in the EU about the inevitability of our future membership in the European Union. However, this does not mean that there aren't individual skeptics among EU member states, nor does it mean that everyone is cheering and waiting for Ukraine to finally enter the European space. It clearly indicates that there will be difficult discussions regarding certain sectors, reforms, and transformations," Klympush-Tsintsadze said.
She stressed that, for example, in Belgium and France, representatives of the agricultural sector have already begun expressing concerns about how Ukraine's accession would affect them.
According to Klympush-Tsintsadze, significant attention will also focus on the "Foundations" cluster – covering the rule of law, balance of powers, and the functioning of democratic institutions – all of which are essential for any country to become a full member of the European Union.
"Additionally, we must understand that objective concerns of EU member states regarding our accession will constantly be amplified and manipulated by our Russian adversaries. As a result, any expression of concern can turn into demonstrations, sharp statements, or actions. This means that now we must not only maintain dialogue with European institutions and do our homework, but also communicate with specific EU member states," she said.
