Canada allocates nearly USD 40 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine
According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Global Affairs Canada) following the visit of Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai to Ukraine.
“Secretary of State Sarai announced $51.1 million in international assistance funding to help Ukraine respond to urgent humanitarian needs while advancing longer-term recovery and reform priorities,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the funds will be used to provide the population with health care, food, and housing, as well as to strengthen Ukraine’s capacity to deliver inclusive public services and support veterans.
“Canada remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine, not only as it continues to face Russia’s war, but as it rebuilds for the future. By working alongside Ukrainian leaders, regional partners in Poland, civil society and the private sector, we are helping lay the foundation for a resilient, inclusive and stronger Ukraine,” said Secretary of State Sarai.
As reported by Ukrinform, one of the key topics during Randeep Sarai’s visit to Ukraine was support for the implementation of a regional energy resilience plan.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Canada has provided Ukraine with various forms of assistance totaling more than $19 billion USD.
