Turkey reaffirms support for Ukraine on 12th anniversary of Crimea's illegal annexation
The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated this on the 12th anniversary of Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, Ukrinform reports.
"On the twelfth anniversary of the Russian Federation's annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea of Ukraine through an illegitimate referendum, we reiterate that Turkey does not recognize the de facto situation in Crimea, which constitutes a violation of international law," the statement reads.
The document also emphasizes Turkey's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and for Crimean Tatars remaining on the peninsula.
“While strongly supporting Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, Türkiye will continue to closely monitor the situation on the Peninsula and keep it on the agenda, with particular attention to the situation of the Crimean Tatar Turks," the statement adds.
