Sybiha shares details of bilateral meetings between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated this in an interview with European Pravda, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, it is very important that the American side remains involved in the peace process, "because there were various risks and challenges." He also described as progress the fact that trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi were achieved.
Sybiha answered affirmatively when asked whether there was a bilateral Ukrainian-Russian track there.
"Meetings between members of the delegations did take place. The negotiations are very difficult. But we can state a qualitative change in the composition of the Russian delegation. These are different people, and there were no longer those pseudo-historical lectures. The conversations were very focused," he said.
He added that a separate track consisted of negotiations between representatives of the military bloc, including both military intelligence and the General Staff.
"There were substantive discussions on the parameters of a ceasefire or truce, on the procedure for monitoring or verifying the ceasefire, and on defining timelines - what each side means by this or that term," Sybiha noted.
As Ukrinform reported, the trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi (UAE) took place on January 23-24. It addressed the parameters for ending the war. The military representatives also defined a list of issues for further meetings.
A new meeting of the teams of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia may take place on Sunday, February 1.
