Sybiha: Russia has still provided no evidence of 'attack' on Putin's residence because there was none
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this in a post on X, Ukrinform reports.
"Almost a day passed and Russia still hasn't provided any plausible evidence to its accusations of Ukraine's alleged 'attack on Putin's residence.' And they won't. Because there's none. No such attack happened," he wrote.
At the same time, Sybiha noted that Ukraine had been "disappointed and concerned" to see the statements by Emirati, Indian, and Pakistani sides expressing their concerns regarding the attack that never happened.
"It is even more surprising given that all three states failed to issue any official statements when a real Russian missile struck the real Ukrainian government building on September 7, 2025," he said.
He stressed that Russia has a long track record of false claims, calling it "their signature tactic." As an example, he recalled Russia's claims at the beginning of 2022 that it would not attack Ukraine.
"They [the Russians] also often accuse others of what they themselves plan to do. Their words should never be taken at face value. Such reactions to Russia's baseless manipulative claims only play into Russian propaganda and encourage Moscow for more atrocities and lies," he said.
In this context, Sybiha urged all states to act responsibly and refrain from reacting to unverified accusations, because "this undermines the constructive peace process that has been advancing lately."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier called Lavrov's statement about an alleged drone attack on Putin's residence in Valdai "yet another lie by the Russian Federation."
According to Lavrov, quoted by Astra, on the night of December 28-29, the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly launched 91 drones at Putin's state residence in Valdai, Novgorod region. The Russian minister threatened Ukraine with a "retaliatory strike" and claimed that the targets and timing of the attack had already been determined.
