Zelensky: Future security structure to include coalition of willing countries and US guarantees
The head of state made this statement in response to questions from journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"I believe that this is a positive signal that we all understand—both the United States and Europe—that we must work together. And if earlier in our dialogues there were doubts on the part of some of our partners about the effectiveness of the Coalition of the Willing, today we discussed that we need security guarantees from Europe (the Coalition of the Willing includes Europe plus Canada and other partners that are not part of the European continent, but they are important), plus American security guarantees," Zelensky said.
He stressed that a serious step forward in the issue of security guarantees is that they will be approved by the US Congress.
“We are talking about security guarantees that must be voted on in the United States Congress. I see that President Trump's team is ready for this. We know for sure that the majority of Congress is positive about this,” the President said.
As reported, today's joint statement by European leaders, released after talks in Berlin, indicates that Ukraine, the US, and European partners have agreed on the parameters for achieving peace in Ukraine, which include security guarantees, in particular, the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the possibility of deploying peacekeeping forces, monitoring the ceasefire, etc.
