The success of U.S. President Donald Trump in brokering peace in the Middle East could act as a catalyst for his more active involvement in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This view was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by Meaghan Mobbs, President of the R.T. Weatherman Foundation and daughter of U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg.

“Even some of President Trump’s biggest detractors have acknowledged what a remarkable success this was. What he achieved in the Middle East is incredible,” she noted.

According to her, this momentum now needs to be used to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine.

“So, I would say that for the President, this has been an amazing achievement. And, following your question, I do think this should be the next step – that there has to be a follow-on to this success, that this momentum should absolutely carry forward into peace between Russia and Ukraine,” Mobbs commented when asked whether the Middle East success could open a “window of opportunity” for President Trump to focus more actively on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

She reminded that in his speech to the Knesset, Trump explicitly stated that “Russia is next.”

“And when President Trump says something – he means it. So, my hope is we’re going to see that pivot. This meeting on Friday is going to be a discussion about: how do we end this war? How is the war going to be ended? And so yes, my hope is that now a lot of effort is going to be dedicated to exactly that,” Mobbs added.
