PM: Sweden wants to be involved in security guarantees for Ukraine

He said this in an interview with P4 Extra, Ukrinform reports, citing Sweden Herald.

The Prime Minister did not answer questions about sending ground troops to Ukraine.

"It's not about, I think, moving very large troops from other countries to Ukraine, but it's about making sure Ukraine themselves can bear responsibility for their country in a way that is so credible that Russia does not try again," Kristersson noted.

At the same time, he assured that Sweden wants to be involved in providing security guarantees for Ukraine.

"We want to be involved, but it must happen under forms that are safe and secure and where one knows what one gets into," the Prime Minister emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, American and European officials have begun work on strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of a security guarantee package.

According to Bloomberg, about a dozen countries have expressed their readiness to send troops to Ukraine after the end of hostilities as part of international security guarantees.
