Witkoff better talk to European leaders before deciding to trust Putin - Kellogg

U.S. President's Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg advised U.S. President's negotiator Steve Witkoff to talk to European leaders before drawing conclusions on whether to trust Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The envoy spoke in an interview with ABC, Ukrinform reports.

Kellogg was asked to comment on Witkoff's statement, who said he does not see that "Putin wants to take all of Europe" and that he takes him at his word in this sense.

In response, Kellogg said: "I would advise Steve to better talk to German Chancellor Merz, French President Macron, and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Starmer. They see the world a little bit differently. They live in their neighborhood, and it’s a tough neighborhood. And they think they are at risk.”

He also said that he had just recently spoken to the Finnish ambassador.

“And the Russians are actually building up forces on their border. Finland got the longest border with Russia, and they obviously have concernes. Yes (Finland is feeling threatened — ed.),” Kellogg added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Keith Kellogg said Washington saw Russia’s concerns about NATO’s eastward enlargement as reasonable, suggesting that the process could be halted.
