Ukraine views meeting with U.S. delegation in Saudi Arabia as bilateral, technical - MFA
This was stated at a briefing by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We view the talks to be held in Saudi Arabia as bilateral Ukrainian-U.S. talks. We view them as a technical round, not a political one. Accordingly, the details and implementation of decisions that have already been made at the political level will be discussed there… Ukrainian and American professionals should meet there, who will be able to dig into he details of how this should look like,… how monitoring will take place,” the MFA spokesman said.
He has added that Ukraine is currently unaware of how the American side will contact the Russians: “It is their choice.”
“(The participation of Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha – ed.) is not foreseen. It’s technical level and technical discussions, so, as far as I understand, there’ll be a military component,” Tykhyi noted.
“We do not know whether a separate U.S.-Russian meeting is being prepared there. This is their matter. Our delegation is going to meet with the Americans. This is exactly what is scheduled,” the diplomat detailed.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that by the next meeting in Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian team will have laid down a list of Ukraine’s civil infrastructure facilities.
