In March 2026, seven new towers equipped with Pantsir air defense systems were built around Vladimir Putin's residence in Valday.

Satellite images from Planet.com show that construction of all seven new towers for the Pantsir systems began on the same day—March 17. Some of them are already equipped with anti-aircraft missile systems.

It is noted that the air defense systems are arranged around Putin’s residence in two concentric rings, with the outer ring being larger than the inner one. Their total number around the residence has reached 27.

As journalists previously reported, Alina Kabaeva spends a lot of time at the Valday residence with Putin’s sons, and for the Russian dictator himself, a replica of his Kremlin office was built there.

Earlier, Radio Free Europe also revealed that more than 20 towers equipped with large-caliber machine guns, as well as several platforms equipped with Pantsir air defense systems, have been erected within and around the perimeter of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan, where Russia manufactures the Geran UAVs—modified versions of the Iranian Shaheds.

As reported by Ukrinform, trust in Vladimir Putin is declining in Russia amid dissatisfaction with censorship policies.

In December 2025, Radio Liberty journalists discovered six more air defense towers around the residence of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Valday.

Last August, 12 air defense positions were deployed around Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Valday, primarily featuring Pantsir-S1 air defense systems mounted on towers.

In July 2024, another Pantsir air defense system was discovered near Putin’s residence in Valday.
