Rutte has “every trust” in Trump's ability to achieve peace in Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that he has “every trust” in the ability of U.S. President Donald Trump to achieve a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.

He made this statement in an comment to CNN ahead of Trump's scheduled conversation with Vladimir Putin, Ukrinform reports.

Rutte praised the U.S.-Ukraine agreement on a ceasefire proposal during talks in Saudi Arabia last week, calling it a "great step."

The NATO chief also rejected claims that Trump trusts Putin too much, stating: “He knows President Putin very well from his first term. So he knows how he has to make sure that he can get a deal done. I have full trust in that.”

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Rutte recently suggested the possibility of gradually restoring 'normal relations' with Russia after the war ends.
