Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has approved sanctions against 83 individuals involved in exporting Russian oil products, as well as Russian propagandists.

NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Lytvynenko stated this following February 4 meeting, Ukrinform reports.

"The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), together with the intelligence agencies of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Main Directorate of Intelligence, proposes to impose sanctions on 83 individuals for facilitating the export of Russian oil products and spirits from the aggressor state. This essentially concerns the 'shadow fleet'. The second sanctions package, based on proposals from the Ministry of Culture, includes 41 individuals and 47 legal entities. These are producers of Russian propaganda films and companies specializing in the production and distribution of anti-Ukrainian content through commercial networks," Lytvynenko stated.

The NSDC Secretary also noted that the third sanctions package was formed by the SSU based on materials from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications regarding Russian propagandists. According to Lytvynenko, this package targets Russians who facilitated the looting of Ukraine’s national heritage from museums located in temporarily occupied Kherson and other occupied cities and towns of the country.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced several strict sanction packages as part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to counter Russian influence.
