Ukraine must receive everything needed for survival and defense of global democracy – U.S. congressman
Former Democratic Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Steny Hoyer, expressed this position during the Ukrainian Week in Washington, D.C., according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
Hoyer urged Congress to provide Ukraine with what it needs not only to ensure its survival but also to safeguard democracy, human rights, and international law worldwide.
He said that Ukraine was truly on the front lines, shedding blood. However, he stressed that the United States must be fully committed to this war alongside Ukraine and continue supporting the country.
In this context, Hoyer expressed confidence that U.S. President Donald Trump would do so. He said he hoped Trump would strive for victory, as he consistently emphasized the need to win.
Otherwise, Hoyer warned that failure to defeat Russian aggression would make America appear weak, render the free world vulnerable, and make the principle of sovereignty -- the foundation of the international system -- seem like a relic of the past.
