Kosovo joins G7 Declaration of Support for Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said on Monday that the Republic joined the Group of Seven’s Declaration of Support to Ukraine.

Kurti reported the news on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ukrinform saw.

"The Republic of Kosova joins the G7 Declaration of Support for Ukraine. Ensuring victory for Ukraine—and holding Russia's leaders accountable for their crimes—is essential to the preservation of peace and democracy. Kosova stands ready to contribute to these efforts," the prime minister wrote, attaching a copy of the document to the posting.

The published statement said that "the effects of the conflict have also rippled far beyond Ukraine’s borders" and that Russia is trying to destabilize the Western Balkans, with the help of its main autocratic allies in the region in an effort to distract attention from the illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Kurti thanked the Ukrainian people for their "brave resistance" in defending shared values, including democracy, human rights, and global peace and stability, and expressed his "deepest sympathy and condolences" for their loss and suffering.

As reported, the NATO summit was held in Vilnius on July 11-12. The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries agreed on the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine. Subsequently, a number of other countries joined the Declaration, and their list keeps growing.

According to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Andriy Yermak, 25 countries have already joined the G7 Declaration as of August 18.
