Ukraine's presidential office has hosted the constituent meeting of the working group that will work on the implementation of the ninth point of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula - "Preventing the escalation of war and the recurrence of aggression."

That's according to the official website of the head of state, Ukrinform reports.

"The purpose of our meeting today is to develop a very specific and detailed agenda for the ninth point of the Peace Formula, as well as to work out practical expectations from its implementation," said Andriy Yermak, the head of the presidential office.

He thanked the G7 countries that adopted the Joint Declaration supporting security guarantees for Ukraine after the NATO Summit in Vilnius and stated that 15 more countries had joined the signatories of this important document within a month. He also noted that the Declaration is open for accession, and the number of signatories is constantly increasing.

"Many of the things we consider as preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of aggression in the future are laid down in the security guarantees for Ukraine," Yermak said.

He also recalled the start of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States, as well as between Ukraine and the United Kingdom on the preparation of bilateral security agreements, and announced the launch of bilateral talks with a number of other countries, including the members of the G7, in the near future.

"Russia's aggression against Ukraine has shown that the existing global security system does not work. That is why Ukraine expects that the security guarantees we are working on together will become the basis for a new, much more effective security system," Yermak said, adding that this is why Ukraine considers the security point of the Formula to be one of the most important.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva spoke in detail about Ukraine's vision of the implementation of the security point of the Peace Formula, its components and the procedure for further activities of the relevant working group.

"This working group is important because it is not only about security guarantees. It contains almost all the elements of the other points of the Peace Formula. This working group is about how to stop Russia's aggression against Ukraine, prevent escalation, and what preventive measures should be taken to prevent aggression in the future, after our victory," he said.

Zhovkva also stated that the working group on the implementation of the security point of the Peace Formula should become a platform that will ensure coordination of all developments, exchange of views and proposals both on the conclusion of bilateral security agreements and on building a new security system in general.

The inaugural meeting of the working group established the current number of its members and the vision regarding its co-chairs, as well as agreed on further actions. The meeting participants positively assessed the launch of the security working group, expressed their readiness to involve new countries, in particular from the Global South, in its activities, and to work together to ensure the effective implementation of the ninth point of the Peace Formula.

The meeting in a hybrid format was attended by ambassadors and authorized representatives of the embassies of the G7 countries, the European Union, and almost all countries that have already joined the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine on providing security guarantees to Ukraine.
