The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, recommends that all EU member states contribute to providing Ukraine with the military equipment it requires to defend its lands.

Von der Leyen touched on the issue at a joint meeting with journalists in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We all share the same approach that it is absolutely vital and necessary to support Ukraine with the military equipment they need to defend themselves, and they have proven that they are able to do that if they are well-equipped. So this is the general recommendation to all member states (to contribute to military equipment supplies to Ukraine - ed.)," von der Leyen said.

The President of the European Commission noted that the European Union, which itself does not possess any military equipment, is facilitating the process through the funding of the European Peace Facility.

As reported, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived on a visit to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday, September 15.

Yesterday, the head of the European Commission announced that she would visit Kyiv to discuss with President Volodymyr Zelensky Ukraine's participation in the EU single market.
