The United States, NATO, and Ukraine pose no threat to Russia, as Russian propagandists and politicians have sought to claim, and neither does the West target the Russian people.

This was stated by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in an address to the nation from the White House on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The United States and NATO are not a threat to Russia," stressed Biden.

He added ”Ukraine is not threatening Russia” either.

"Neither the U.S. nor NATO have missiles in Ukraine.  We do not — do not have plans to put them there as well. We’re not targeting the people of Russia.  We do not seek to destabilize Russia," the U.S. leader said.

Joe Biden addressed the Russians directly, emphasizing that they are not seen as enemies in America: "I do not believe you want a bloody, destructive war against Ukraine."

In this regard, Biden recalled that in World War 2, the United States and Russia joined forces in the fight against the Nazis. He called those events a "war of necessity."

"But if Russia attacks Ukraine, it would be a war of choice, or a war without cause or reason,” Biden underlined.

“I say these things not to provoke but to speak the truth — because the truth matters; accountability matters,” the U.S. president summed up.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Joe Biden addressed the American people regarding the situation around Ukraine.

In particular, he stressed the need for de-escalation on the part of Russia and expressed hope for Moscow's readiness for constructive diplomacy.
